Acacia: Light brown hardwood from Australia
and Africa. In ancient times it was used by Eastern nations
for religious and sacred buildings, and is still used in
churches and specials architectural applications.
Amaranth: A South African,
this dark purple-hued wood is very fine-grained with good
figuring, much used in contemporary furniture,
Amboyna: An East Indian wood.
A rich brown, highly-figured wood with yellow and real streaks,
often used for modern furniture items.
Ash: Hard, dense wood, generally
blond to light brown in color, with a good grain resembling
oak. Very good for exposed parts that require strength and
a casual appearance.
Bamboo: A woody plant found
in tropical forest, generally used for casual furniture
utilizing leather wraps as fastening devices.
Birch: Very hard, fine-grained
wood, usually a light brown in color, which takes all finishes
well, making it the wood of choice when imitating more expensive
woods such as mahogany.
