Furniture
& Wood definitions
Five-ply construction is what you should expect in a good
veneer panel. You will find many side panels on wood items
are three-ply construction, but the bottom-line is: Five-ply
construction is better. It is more stable, w-hich is what
you , should expect to find in better furniture items.
Glue blocks: Found on the bottoms of drawers.
Good drawers have glue blocks even though good drawers do
not demand glue blocks. Is that clear? Another way of saying
it is: good manufacturers, who are not looking for ways
to cut corners, still use glue blocks because they add to
the stability of a drawer. With new manufacturing techniques,
glue blocks are not as essential as they used to be, but
look for them as a clue to determining how tar the manufacturer
has gone in order to produce a superior product.
