Carving and/or embossing: when
you look at craving on a furniture item you should, at least
as a point of information, ask if the area was carved or
embossed. In all fairness, real human craftsman any more.
A few remaining craftsmen which are then put into master
craving machines to produce ten or twenty carved sections
at a time. These machines produce outstanding carved sections.
Put society just doesn’t need a lot of wood carvers
any more, and thus it is a dying duce them quickly in the
quantities needed for large production runs
Chipcore, particleboard, high
density boards : good or bad? Well, like most other
things in this world, they can beBoth good and bad. If someone
told you an item was "all wood", would that really
tell you anything? It shouldn't, because "all wood"
doesn't tell you anything about the kind wood used, how
it was handled, how it was finished and so on. You simply
do not have enough information with which to make an informed
judgment. This is the case with chipcore and particleboard.
It is a tact that qualitv items are manufactured using these
products because they produce a superior foundation for
veneers. These manmade core materials, when well-made, have
the advantage of being almost impervious to Moisture, thus
providing a foundation for veneer that is not going to move,
swell or shrink-it is dimensionally stable. This stable
foundation will allow veneer to be positioned without any
undue tension on it, so that stress on the finish will be
minimized, and any chance of the finish crazing, etc., is
greatly reduced. Done Propertly , it is a plus for you.
Done improperly, it simhly makes a piece of Poor furniture.
I would bet the piece of furnitureyou are looking at would
have revealed itself to you as poor quality long before
you needed to ask if any "chipcore" was used in
the manufacture of it.
