Werehouse sales
Always shop warehouse sales but never buy anything
there unless it is at least forty percent off. Warehouses
often contain wonderful merchandise the retailer simply
did not sell. If an item on a sales floor does not sell
in the first ninety days, or at least in the first six months,
it will probably end up in a warehouse sale. The retailer
cannot afford to keep the better terms to describe product.
The lather, however, are seldom too defective and are often
money back on a defective item , and did not repair it because
he deeded the money elsewhere, or because he knew the item
was a candidate for a warehouse sale
Another way for the retailer to fill his
warehouse sale stock is to buy “ dogs” from
his suppliers. Every manufacturer has stock that isn’t
moving. Selling tired, old, or poorly performing stock to
retailers has always been one way to clear it out and to
do a favor for the retailer. The producer sells dogs. Who
sell them along with the store’s dogs. Remember that
one person’s dog can be another person’s joytise
savings of up to Sixty, seventy and eighty per Cent, but-these
arc savings off the manufacturer’s suggested retail
price list. ( I often think these lists should be put on
the New York Times Bestseller List under “Fiction”)
The point to remember is that you can find some terrific
merchandise priced very well at a warehouse sale. Be flexible.
It may be more economic to buy a sofa that is not quite
the right color, and simply paint the room to make it work.
Be flexible. It will save you money.
In any store, check the free services : Delivery, in-house
repairs, warranties, free decorating service, return policy-all
the services which used to be part of the standard package
for furniture stires are now either extras or not available
at all. Such services have often been casualties of the
heavy discounting that is driving the business today.
